  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or provolone)
  • 2 cups whole milk (or almond milk)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

For the Pasta:

  1. 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. 2. Add elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

For the Cheese Sauce:

  1. 1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
  2. 2. Whisk in flour and cook for about one minute until bubbly.
  3. 3. Gradually pour in milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir until thickened (about five minutes).
