- 12 ounces cooked spaghetti (whole wheat or gluten-free as desired)
For the Filling:
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey (lean)
- 24 ounces marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup diced bell peppers and onions (or your favorite vegetables)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat Your Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round baking dish with cooking spray.
- 2. Cook the Pasta:
- Prepare spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 3. Brown the Meat:
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, stir in marinara sauce, and let simmer for about five minutes.
- 4. Mix Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, combine cooked spaghetti with beaten eggs, half of the shredded cheese, sautéed vegetables, and half of the meat sauce mixture. Toss until well combined.
- 5. Assemble the Pie:
- Spread half of the spaghetti mixture into the greased baking dish. Layer on remaining meat sauce followed by another layer of spaghetti mixture. Top with remaining cheese.
- 6. Bake and Serve:
- Bake in preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden. Allow to cool slightly before slicing into wedges.
