Description

Experience the warmth of creamy sweet potatoes topped with crunchy pecan streusel—a delightful dish perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 2 lbs sweet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For the Pecan Topping:

  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

For the Casserole:

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2. Peel and chop sweet potatoes into even chunks. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15–20 minutes. Drain and let cool slightly.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, combine drained sweet potatoes with softened butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  4. 4. Transfer the mashed sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.

For the Pecan Topping:

  1. 5. In another bowl, mix chopped pecans with melted butter and brown sugar until well coated. Sprinkle this mixture over the sweet potato layer.
  2. 6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30–35 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top. Broil for an extra minute if you prefer a crispy topping.
  3. 7. Serve warm as a side dish or enjoy straight from the baking dish!
