Description

Indulge in crispy, gooey homemade mozzarella sticks, perfect for parties or cozy nights in, served with a classic marinara dip.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Coating:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

For the Cheese:

  • 8 string cheese sticks

For Dipping Sauce:

  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

For the Coating:

  1. 1. Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Italian seasoning.
  2. 2. Roll each string cheese stick in flour until fully coated. Shake off excess flour. Dip into the egg mixture, then roll in breadcrumbs until completely covered.

For Freezing and Frying:

  1. 3. Place the breaded cheese sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes to prevent oozing during cooking.
  2. 4. In a deep frying pan or pot, heat oil over medium-high heat to approximately 350°F (175°C).
  3. 5. Carefully add frozen cheese sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy (about two minutes per side).
  4. 6. Transfer fried mozzarella sticks onto paper towels to drain excess oil and serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
