For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (or dairy alternative)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Additional crushed Oreo cookies for topping

Instructions

For the Cupcakes:

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. 2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. 3. In another bowl, mix milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. 4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Fold in the crushed Oreos.
  5. 5. Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
  6. 6. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

For the Frosting:

  1. 1. Beat softened butter in a bowl until creamy.
  2. 2. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
  3. 3. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract; beat on high until light and fluffy.
  4. 4. Frost cooled cupcakes with the Oreo buttercream and sprinkle additional crushed Oreos on top.
