Ingredients
Scale
For the Gravy:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup cream or milk
Instructions
For the Gravy:
- 1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease but retain some for flavor.
- 2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until fragrant and onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
- 3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- 4. Pour in the beef broth and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened. For a thicker gravy, add a cornstarch slurry (equal parts water and cornstarch).
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 1. Boil peeled and cubed potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- 2. Drain and return potatoes to the pot. Add butter and cream or milk.
- 3. Mash until smooth and creamy; season with salt as needed.
- Serve:
- 1. Spoon the hamburger gravy generously over the fluffy mashed potatoes.
- 2. Enjoy while hot!
