For the Pasta:
- 12 oven-ready lasagna noodles
For the Filling:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (or 1 tbsp dried basil)
For the Sauce:
- 3 cups marinara sauce
Instructions
For the Pasta:
- 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay them flat on parchment paper to prevent sticking.
For the Filling:
- 3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- 4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, half of the grated Parmesan, and chopped basil. Mix until creamy.
- Assembling the Lasagna:
- 5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- 6. Place three noodles side by side over the sauce.
- 7. Layer half of the ricotta mixture, followed by half of the browned meat and some mozzarella cheese.
- 8. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles topped with marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella.
- Baking:
- 9. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- 10. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- 11. Let cool for ten minutes before slicing into squares.
