For the Pasta:

  • 12 oven-ready lasagna noodles

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (or 1 tbsp dried basil)

For the Sauce:

  • 3 cups marinara sauce

Instructions

For the Pasta:

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay them flat on parchment paper to prevent sticking.

For the Filling:

  1. 3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. 4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, half of the grated Parmesan, and chopped basil. Mix until creamy.
  3. Assembling the Lasagna:
  4. 5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  5. 6. Place three noodles side by side over the sauce.
  6. 7. Layer half of the ricotta mixture, followed by half of the browned meat and some mozzarella cheese.
  7. 8. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles topped with marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella.
