For the Pasta:
- 1 pound ziti pasta
For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 pound lean ground beef (80/20)
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Cheese Layers:
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- 2. Add ziti pasta to boiling water and cook until al dente (about 8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
- 3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- 4. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into the beef. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- 5. In a large baking dish, spread half of the meat sauce on the bottom. Layer half of the cooked ziti followed by dollops of ricotta cheese and some mozzarella cheese. Repeat with remaining meat sauce and pasta.
- 6. Cover generously with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake for about 30 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown on top.
- 7. Let cool slightly before serving for an incredible dinner experience.
